“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:18-21 Berean Standard Bible)

It is important to store up our treasures in heaven. What does this mean to me? It means to me, listening to the Lord and obeying Him. It means obeying Him in every area of my life as the Holy Spirit leads and guides.

Sometimes when we obey the Lord, we may be alone. Some people may not understand or follow in our footsteps, but our eyes need to be on the Lord and not people.

Galatians 1:10 (BSB) says “am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ”

Acts 5:29 (BSB) says “But Peter and the other apostles replied, ‘We must obey God rather than men.'”

God is to be first and foremost in our lives. People change, but God does not. They may be for you at one moment and then are different the next moment. We are to seek God’s approval not man’s approval. When we obey the Lord and do what He says we store up treasures in Heaven and we demonstrate where our hearts are. It demonstrates that God is first.

Our lives are to be living sacrifices, holy and pleasing, to the Lord.

Romans 12:1-2 (BSB) says “Therefore I urge you, brothers, on account of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what is the good, pleasing and perfect will of God.”

Our bodies, our lives, our actions, every part of our being is to be given and yielded to the Lord. With God’s help, we can do this.

God is worthy! He has down so much for us! He deserves it all. He deserves my surrender.
